Montana allows doulas to operate even if they do not have a certification because there is no state requirement to get certified. You can become certified to in order to receive more training, however, it is entirely voluntary. Also, Montana does not require a college degree or equivalent in order to work as labor doula.
The following is a list of educational classes, workshops, or resources available in the Montana area which can be used for your doula training. If you are enrolling in a certification curriculum, please read the details carefully to determine if the classes listed are a required part of your studies. You do not have to be pursuing a certification in order to attend these classes, however, you are require to be at least 18 years old.

Course and Workshop Details and Requirements
The training will consist of a 3 day Birth doula training workshop and a Childbirth for Doulas class. Both are required towards DONA certification and will be offered on Feb 24-26, 2017.
There is also an optional Breastfeeding for Doulas class offered on Feb 24, 2017 which will satisfy the DONA requirement for a breastfeeding course.
