The United Kingdom has extensive educational resources to achieve your goal of becoming a doula. The advantage of training to be a birth doula in the U.K. is that there is no requirement for getting a certification to work in the country. However, there are many professional reasons to do so. There is also no requirement for you to have a degree from a university in order to establish your business.

Course and Workshop Details and Requirements
The birth doula training course runs for 4 consecutive days and is required to complete the Doula UK curriculum and to receive an Attendance Certificate. However, you do not have the join Doula UK in order to attend the course.

- Discuss the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy and birth
- Recognize that doulas do not rescue women, but instead, provide evidence based information in order to empower women to make their own choices and decisions
- Discuss various risks and common scenarios which can occur during labor
- Identify the role of a doula if a Caesarean birth or VBAC is required
- Engage in providing support to both the pregnant woman and her partner at all time during her labour
- Train in newborn care such as infant feeding techniques from IBCLC qualified instructor
- Learn how to market and promote your business
