New York is one of the states that does not require a certification in order to practice as a doula in the state. While it is strictly voluntary to get a certificate, many women choose to do so in order to remain competitive in the job market. Additionally, the state does not require a university diploma in order to work.
The following is a list of educational resources and classes available in the New York area which can be used for your doula training. If a class is part of a required part of a certification curriculum, it will be noted in the details. You do not have to be actively pursuing a certification in order to attend these classes.
