Postpartum Doula Training in New Mexico


In New Mexico, there is no requirement for postpartum doulas to have a certification in order to work or become employed.  However, there are many professional benefits for getting certified.  New Mexico also does not require you to have a degree to practice in the state.

Course and Workshop Details and Requirements

This is a 18 hour postpartum doula training workshop.  This workshop will span 3 days and is required for CPD certification through CAPPA.  You do not have to be affiliated with CAPPA to attend. The workshop is offered on Aug. 25-27, 2017 from various times each day.


Costs and Fees

The cost for the postpartum doula training workshop is $470 for normal registration.  There is an early registration discount of $50.

This is a 2 day workshop that is required for the CAPPA certification as a postpartum doula. However, you are not required to be pursuing a certification to attend the workshop.

As part of your postpartum doula training, these classes will cover the following:
  • Discuss the what the job of a postpartum doula encompasses
  • Learn about the specifics of what a newborn needs
  • Understand how educate the family on feeding choices
  • Learn how to assist the family in the transition to parenthood
  • Discuss the standards of practice and the certification process for CAPPA

The 2 day CAPPA-approved workshop costs $475.  If you register early, the cost is $425.
