Course and Workshop Details and Requirements

This is a 3 day training workshop is a step to becoming a postpartum doula. This workshop satisfies the workshop portion of the DONA postpartum doula certification. You can attend and receive training even if you are not enrolled with DONA.  The workshop is offered on June 22-24, 2017 and again from Oct. 12-14, 2017.

Course and Workshop Details and Requirements

The classes offered are Breastfeeding basics class (1 session), and Newborn care class (1 session). These courses are not part of a certification curriculum such as DONA or CAPPA.


Course and Workshop Topics

These classes will cover the following topics:
  • Learn how to encourage a positive and successful breastfeeding experience in the postpartum period
  • Understand the important of latching in feeding
  • Discuss the benefits of breastfeeding to both the mother and infant
  • Learn proper positions for feeding as well as instructions for using a milk pump
  • Discuss newborn characteristics and activities such as sleeping and feeding schedules
  • Learn how to bath an infant and change diapers through demonstrations
  • Understand how to baby proof a home

Costs and Fees

Both the Newborn Care Basics and Breastfeeding Basics class are $25 to attend.
