Georgia does not require postpartum doulas to have a certification or a degree from a university in order to practice within the state.

Course and Workshop Details and Requirements

This is a 18 hour postpartum doula training workshop.  This workshop will span 2 days and is required for CPD certification through CAPPA.  You do not have to be affiliated with CAPPA to attend. The workshop is offered on Dec. 3-4, 2017 from 8:00AM - 6:00PM each day.

As part of your postpartum doula training, these classes will cover the following:

  • Review what types of support you can provide to the mother
  • Learn about successful breastfeeding techniques
  • Understand how provide newborn care and educate the family on these concepts
  • Discuss the different types of postpartum moods that the mother may experience
  • Discuss how to soothe and comfort an infant
  • Learn how to make contracts and create business opportunities with your clients
  • Outline the ethics, integrity, and the certification process for CAPPA
